Glen L. (“Mac”) McAlister, Managing Director

Glen McAlister has 30 years of business ownership in the oil field service sector including: remanufacturing, sales, service and operation of drilling equipment and drilling rigs. After establishing Rig Air, in 1976 at 23 years of age, Mr. McAlister transformed Rig Air into the largest independent air and gas compression company by territory in the United States. His next business venture came when he formed Advanced Air Systems, which specialized in remanufactured pneumatic rig equipment. This involvement in rig-related components led to the creation of Advanced Rig & Equipment.
Mr. McAlister began Advanced Rig & Equipment in 1985 for the purpose of remanufacturing equipment for the drilling industry. Working with worldwide suppliers, drilling contractors and operators, Advanced Rig’s equipment is used on drilling rigs around the globe. Advanced Rig & Equipment’s client base includes National Oilwell, Wilson Supply, Cendrill Supply of Australia, Helmerich & Payne Drilling, Nabors Drilling, GreyWolf Drilling, Unit Drilling, Patterson Drilling, Parker Drilling, Shengli Petroleum, Sedco Forex, Pride International, Egyptian Drilling, Chesapeake Energy, and Strata Drilling. Advanced Rig & Equipment has completed and deployed rigs ranging in size from a 900hp portable operating on the African and European continent to a 1500hp state-of-the-art diesel electric rig that is currently operating in Wyoming.

Mr. McAlister utilized his international business relationships, created through the purchasing and selling of drilling equipment, as a springboard to begin construction of complete rigs.  Forming partnerships to begin Advanced Drilling Technologies, and later Strata Drilling, Mr. McAlister has overseen every aspect of the business related to drilling rigs including construction, completion, and deployment to the field. Following the sale of his 44% interest in Strata Drilling to Bronco Drilling (BRNC), Mr. McAlister formed Frontier Drilling. He has taken the company from 1 rig to 12 rigs that are or will soon be operating in the Rocky Mountains. Utilizing his experience with international markets he will continue to add additional rigs to Frontier Drilling’s fleet. Frontier Drilling is currently operating in Duchesene County Utah.
